What F1 Lo / F1 Hi means
These readings appear on Kenmore bottom-freezer refrigerators with model numbers starting 111, a platform whose maker is not documented in any source we found. F1 Lo or F1 Hi means the freezer compartment temperature sensor has failed in the low or high direction. The control then loses its picture of the freezer temperature, so cooling can run too long, too little or erratically.
Common causes of F1 Lo / F1 Hi
- Freezer temperature sensor out of range
- Sensor wiring or connector
- Control board input
1. Note whether the display says Lo or Hi. 2. Check the freezer for ice build-up around the door and make sure the door closes fully. 3. Do not overpack the freezer so air can still circulate. 4. Leave the sensor and panels to us.
- Whether the sensor is out of its expected resistance range or damaged wiring upstream is fooling the control
- We test the circuit with a meter, which an owner should not attempt
- The sensor is replaced only after the wiring checks out

What do Lo and Hi mean here?
They describe which way the sensor reading went out of range. Both point to the freezer temperature sensor circuit, and the direction helps us decide whether to look for an open wire or a short.
Is my food safe?
Check the freezer by touch, and with a thermometer if you have one. If it feels warm or ice cream is soft, move items to a cooler until we arrive, and tell us what you found when you book.
Why not just swap the sensor?
A bad connector gives the same reading as a bad sensor, so we confirm the circuit first. You get the price in writing before any part goes in, and the work carries our 30-day workmanship warranty.
Still seeing F1 Lo / F1 Hi?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
