Freezer Repair in Houston
Upright and chest freezers under the Kenmore and Kenmore Elite names are common in Houston garages and utility rooms. We begin with cabinet temperature, the defrost system and the lid or door seal, and report what each one showed.

Common freezer problems we fix
In the order we see them across Houston homes.
Food softening around the edges
Thick frost on walls or the lid seal
Chest freezer lid not closing flat
Motor running without cooling much
Water under an upright after defrost
Interior light on but no cooling
Kenmore freezers include frost-free uprights and chests that depend on manual defrost, and each ages differently. The model prefix tells us which manufacturer built the platform, which in turn decides how its defrost heater, thermostat and fan are tested and which parts exist for it. We read that label before ordering anything.
In Houston, freezers often live in a garage or on a back porch, which means higher outdoor temperatures, humidity that swells gaskets and dust that blankets the condenser. A freezer that has run quietly for years may begin to cycle nonstop in August simply because it cannot shed heat.
Our first pass covers the temperature at the back and front of the cabinet, the condenser and fan, the gasket seal along its full length, and the defrost parts on frost-free models. We tell you plainly whether the cooling problem is mechanical, a sealing problem or an electrical one, and what each path would cost before we start.

Is food still safe after my freezer warmed up?
That depends on how warm it got and for how long, and we cannot judge that from the unit. Food that still has ice crystals is judged differently from food that has fully thawed. Follow standard food-safety guidance rather than our opinion on that.
Why does my freezer ice up so quickly?
Heavy frost usually points to warm humid air getting in, often through a worn gasket or a lid that does not sit flat. In a frost-free upright it can also mean the defrost system has stopped working, which we test directly.
Does a garage freezer need different checks?
Mostly the same, but a garage unit works in a hotter room, so coils clog sooner and the motor runs longer. We look at the surroundings as well as the freezer, and tell you if placement is part of the trouble.
