What F3/E0 / F3/E1 (665-prefix) means
Kenmore 665. ranges, built by Whirlpool, use F3 with a second digit to report the oven sensor. F3/E0 means the sensor is defective or its circuit is open. F3/E1 means it is defective or shorted. The sensor tells the control how hot the oven is, so with either code the oven may not heat, may heat unevenly, or may turn off early. The sensor reads about 1080 ohms at 70 degrees F when healthy.
Common causes of F3/E0 / F3/E1 (665-prefix)
- Oven sensor open or shorted
- Sensor connector at the control
- Wire between the sensor and the control
- Electronic oven control
1. Let the oven cool and cancel the cycle. 2. Pull the range plug for 3 minutes, then reconnect it. 3. Try a short bake and see whether the code returns. 4. Do not pull on the sensor inside the oven. 5. If the code returns, call us with F3/E0 or F3/E1.
- The code names the sensor circuit but not whether the sensor, the wire, or the control is responsible
- We measure the sensor and check the connector
- We quote in writing before replacing it
Other Range codes
How do E0 and E1 differ?
F3/E0 says the sensor is defective or open, and F3/E1 says it is defective or shorted. Both are sensor circuit problems on this 665 platform.
Can I keep baking?
The oven may run poorly without a good temperature reading, so we would not rely on it. Food can under-cook or over-cook, and a baking schedule you trust matters more than the code.
Is replacing the sensor the usual fix?
Often, but only after we confirm the circuit. A loose connector or damaged wire can give the same code. We test first, quote in writing, and warrant our workmanship for 30 days.
