What F/11 means
On older Kenmore HE front-load washers whose model numbers start with 110, a Whirlpool-built platform with the F/xx display, F/11 is a serial communication error between the main electronic control board and the motor control board. The two boards send data in a steady stream, and F/11 means that stream has stopped or become garbled. The washer cannot run the motor and the cycle stops with the code on the display.
Common causes of F/11
- Connections on the main control board, motor control board and drive motor
- Motor control board that is no longer responding
- Main control board that has stopped sending data
1. Switch off the washer and wait a short while before restarting. 2. Start a short cycle and watch whether the drum turns. 3. Note when F/11 appears, at start or mid-cycle. 4. Leave all wiring alone and call us if the code repeats.

What is a serial communication error?
