What Wash LED on means
On Kenmore top-load washers whose model numbers start with 110 and belong to the VMW line, the Wash light staying on means no fill or a long fill. Water is not being detected as entering the washer, so the control stops and lights the indicator in place of a code. You may hear no water at all, or see the tub fill much more slowly than usual. The first checks are on the water supply, before the valves.
Common causes of Wash LED on
- Water supply faucets that are not fully open
- Fill hoses that are kinked or restricted
- Inlet water valve assembly that is defective
1. Make sure both water supply faucets behind the washer are fully open. 2. Check the fill hoses for kinks. 3. Start a cycle and listen for water entering the tub. 4. If the water still does not come in, call us to test the inlet valve.
- Whether the inlet valve opens when the control calls for water
- Whether the screens at the valve are blocked
- Whether the supply pressure at your faucets is normal
Other Washer codes
Does the Wash light mean the same as the Spin light?
No. On this line the Wash light on is about water coming in, while the Spin light is about a long drain. Each light points us to a different part of the water path.
Why would water not be detected?
A closed faucet or kinked hose is the simplest reason. If both are fine, the inlet valve assembly may not be opening when the control asks for water.
Should I replace the valve myself?
We would not guess, because the same light can come from the supply side. We test the valve first, give you a written price, and cover our work with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Still seeing Wash LED on?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
