Reading a Kenmore Dishwasher Model Label: Where to Find It and What the Digits Mean
The model label in a Kenmore dishwasher sits on the door edge or tub frame. The digits before the dot point to the platform and decide which parts fit.
A Kenmore dishwasher label is the quickest way to learn what is inside the machine. The digits before the dot in the model number point to the company that built that platform, and that decides which pump, valve and control board fit.
Where the label is
- On the edge of the inner door, visible when it is open.
- On the left or right side of the tub frame.
- Under the front panel on some older units.
Read it with the door open and the lower rack pulled out, and photograph the whole sticker.
What the prefix changes
- Parts: a drain pump or inlet valve from one platform will not fit another.
- Codes: a number or flash pattern on the panel is read against that platform.
- Filters and spray arms: the cleaning routine differs by design.
What the label does not say
It does not say whether the dishwasher is worth repairing or what is wrong. It also does not show how old the machine is, unless you read the serial number, and even then the date code depends on the maker. Treat the label as the starting point of the diagnosis.
Using it well
Do not search the code on the display by itself. The same number can mean different things on different platforms, which is why we read the prefix first. If a code appears, write it down with the model and whether the machine stops or keeps running.
Before the visit
Send the photo of the label when you ask for dishwasher repair. We will confirm the platform, and you will receive a written price before work begins. See the service area page to confirm we cover your address.
