Kenmore Dishwasher Leaves Dishes Wet: Rinse Aid, Vent and Heating Checks
Wet dishes at the end of a Kenmore dishwasher cycle can come from rinse aid, loading or a drying part that no longer works. Check them in this order.
Wet dishes after a full cycle are annoying, but the cause is often simple. Start with what you control, then move to what the machine does. Plastic items always stay wetter than ceramic and glass, so judge the dishes that should dry.
Start with these
- Fill the rinse aid dispenser. Rinse aid helps water sheet off dishes.
- Pick a heated or extended dry option if the model offers it.
- Reload so that cups face down and nothing nests or blocks the spray.
- Crack the door open at the end of the cycle to let steam out.
How the machine dries
Depending on the platform, a Kenmore dishwasher dries with a heating element in the tub, a fan or vent, or by using the heat left from the final hot rinse. That is another reason to read the model prefix, since it tells us which method yours uses.
What the signs point to
- Dishes warm but wet, rinse aid full: the vent or the final rinse temperature.
- Dishes cool and wet: the heating element or its control may not be working.
- Water pooling on top of cups: a loading or rinse aid matter.
- Residue as well as wetness: the filter or water inlet temperature.
The limits
We cannot tell from the dish alone if the heater is open. It takes a meter test on the element and wiring. In a house where the water heater is far from the kitchen, cooler incoming water also reduces drying and is not a dishwasher failure.
Booking
If the basics did not help, request dishwasher repair and note whether the dishes are warm or cold at the end. That one detail helps us plan the heating check, and our workmanship carries a 30-day warranty.
