What E11 means

On Kenmore front-load washers whose model numbers start with 417, a Frigidaire and Electrolux-built platform, E11 means the fill time ran too long, so the tub did not reach its water level in the expected time. The cycle stops. This applies to the full model 417.44130000 and to digital-display versions from 2014 onward. You may see the drum nearly empty, hear no water running, or find the cycle sitting idle at the start.

Common causes of E11

  • Water supply faucets not fully open
  • Frozen or kinked fill lines
  • Fill hoses or inlet screens restricting flow
  • Water inlet valve
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Make sure both water faucets behind the washer are fully open. 2. In winter, check whether the fill lines may be frozen. 3. Look for kinks in the fill hoses. 4. If water flow still seems weak, call us before taking the hoses off.

! Why to stop there
  • Whether the house supply or the washer is restricting flow
  • Poor flow may need a plumber to fix the house side
  • We test flow through the fill hoses before suggesting the inlet valve
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
E11E11 questions
What does too long a fill mean?

The washer waits a set time for the tub to fill. If the water level is not reached in that time, E11 appears and the cycle stops, usually because water is not arriving quickly enough.

Could my house plumbing be the cause?

Yes. Low water pressure or a partly closed valve behind the washer is a common reason. A plumber may be needed if the house supply is the restriction, and we tell you if that is the case.

Is this the same on digital models?

Yes, the digital-display 2014 and newer version uses E11 for the same fill-time condition, so the same checks apply. The difference is only the panel, not the fill path.
