What F/H means
On older Kenmore HE front-load washers whose model numbers start with 110, a Whirlpool-built platform with the F/xx display, F/H means the washer is not filling with water. The cycle starts, but the water level does not rise as expected, so the control stops and shows the code. The owner may hear the washer click or hum without water coming in. The cause is often as simple as a closed supply valve or a frozen fill line.
Common causes of F/H
- Water supply valves behind the washer not fully open
- Fill lines frozen in winter or kinked
- Siphon problem in the drain system
- Water inlet valve assembly that does not open
1. Check that both water supply valves behind the washer are fully open. 2. In winter, check the fill lines for freezing. 3. Look for kinks in the fill hoses. 4. Check whether the drain hose is siphoning water out; call us if F/H stays.
- Whether the supply and hoses are delivering water
- Whether the inlet valve opens when the washer calls for water
- Whether the drain setup is draining water as fast as it fills
Other Washer codes
Why is my washer not filling?
Usually the water is not reaching it. A closed valve, a kinked hose or a frozen line are the first things to rule out before looking at the inlet valve.
What is a siphon problem?
If the drain hose is set too low, water can run out as fast as it comes in, so the level never rises. We check the hose height and standpipe.
When is the inlet valve the cause?
When supply and hoses are fine but the valve does not open on command. We test it and quote the replacement in writing before we start.
Still seeing F/H?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
