What F02 means
On Kenmore Oasis top-load washers whose model numbers start with 110, a Whirlpool-built platform, F02 is a user interface failure. The control panel, where the buttons and display live, is not communicating properly with the main electronic control board. The owner sees F02 and the buttons may not respond or the cycle may refuse to start. The wiring between the two boards and the interface board itself are the two things checked.
Common causes of F02
- Wire harness between the main control board and the user interface control board
- User interface control board that has stopped responding
- Main control board that is not communicating with the panel
1. Unplug the washer for several minutes, then restore power. 2. Press Power and select a cycle. 3. Keep the console dry and do not open it yourself. 4. If F02 returns, call us. 5. Note which buttons still respond and tell us when you call.
- Whether the connection between the boards is sound
- Whether the user interface board is the one failing
- Whether the main board needs attention too
Other Washer codes
What does F02 mean on my Oasis?
It means the user interface, the panel with your buttons and display, has failed to communicate with the main board. The washer cannot take your selections.
Can I check the wiring myself?
The harness is inside the console, and we advise against opening it. We inspect the connection safely and tell you the cost first. Opening a console with the washer plugged in is not safe for owners.
Is a new panel always the answer?
No. If the connection is the issue, no new board is needed. We test before we quote. Sometimes the connection is all that needs attention, and that costs less than a new board.
Still seeing F02?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
