What LF means
On Kenmore top-load washers whose model numbers start with 110, the VMAX, Oasis and Calypso lines all use LF for a long fill. VMAX can also show F8 E1 and Oasis can also show F30. The control waited for water to reach the level and it took too long, so the cycle stops. Because the same letters appear on three platforms, we match your washer to its line first. A closed faucet or a blocked fill line is the usual story.
Common causes of LF
- Water supply faucets that are not fully open
- Fill hoses that are kinked or frozen in winter
- Debris or deposits in the screens at the inlet valve
- Inlet valve assembly that does not open (and a drain siphon on VMAX)
1. Make sure both water supply faucets behind the washer are fully open. 2. Check the fill hoses for kinks, or for freezing in winter. 3. On a VMAX, also check the drain system for a siphon that pulls water out. 4. Restart the cycle. If LF returns, call us.
- Whether the screens are clogged or the valve is not opening
- Whether water is leaving through a siphon as fast as it enters
- Which of the three platforms your washer is

What is the difference between LF and F8 E1?
On the VMAX line they describe the same long fill, so you may see either one. The Oasis line pairs LF with F30 in the same way. The meaning does not change with the second spelling.
What is a drain siphon?
If the drain hose sits too low in the standpipe, gravity can pull water out as fast as it fills. The tub never reaches its level, so the control shows a long fill.
Should I replace the fill hoses?
Only if they are kinked, cracked or frozen. We start with the simple supply checks and the inlet screens, then give a written price before any part is ordered.
Still seeing LF?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
