What oL / F70 means

On Kenmore Oasis top-load washers whose model numbers start with 110, a Whirlpool-built platform, oL or F70 means the washer is overloaded. The size of the load is above what the washer is built to handle. The control sees it and shows the code instead of starting or finishing the cycle. F70 is also used for other things on the HE5 front-load line, so it is read only against the Oasis top-load here.

How full should I load the basket?

Fill it loosely, without packing. If clothes are pressed to the top or the agitator struggles, take some out. A smaller load also leaves room for the water to circulate.

Is F70 always an overload code?

Not on every Kenmore. On an HE5 front-load, F70 is a different thing entirely. For your Oasis top-load, oL and F70 are the overload message.
