What Sud / SUDS means

Kenmore front-load washers show Sud for excessive suds on three platforms: older 110-prefix HE models with the F/xx display, 796-prefix Wi-Fi models, and 402-prefix models. In each case the control runs a suds kill routine, filling the tub and tumbling the clothes, and shows Sud when that fails. The 796 Wi-Fi front-load also recommends leaving it to dissipate before the finish. It is a foam message, not a broken-part message.

Is Sud different from Sd?

They mean the same excessive suds. HE2 and HE5 washers spell it Sd, while the older 110 HE, the 796 Wi-Fi and the 402 front-loads spell it Sud. Check your exact display before you decide.
