What dL / dU means

On Kenmore Oasis top-load washers whose model numbers start with 110, a Whirlpool-built platform, dL means the lid lock failed to engage, also shown as F80, F82, F84 or F85. dU, or F83, means the lid failed to unlock. Full model numbers such as 110.47089600 and 110.29132411 follow this behavior. The washer will not run, or the lid will not open after a cycle.
