On Kenmore digital-display front-load washers from about 2014 with model numbers starting 417, E91 or E92 is a communication problem. The electronic control board and the user interface board, the one behind the buttons and display, are no longer exchanging data correctly. The owner sees the code on screen, buttons may not respond, and the cycle may refuse to start. It describes a lost link between two boards rather than a water or drain issue.
