What F/13 means
On older Kenmore HE front-load washers whose model numbers start with 110, a Whirlpool-built platform with the F/xx display, F/13 is a dispenser circuit error. The dispenser cannot move into position. You usually hear the dispenser system shifting constantly before the code appears. The washer is trying to line up the dispenser to release detergent or additives and cannot, so it stops. The owner sees F/13 and may find the dispenser drawer behaving strangely.
Common causes of F/13
- Mechanical linkage on the dispenser housing that is damaged or stuck
- Dispenser drive that cannot reach its position
- Wiring or control circuit for the dispenser
1. Pull the dispenser drawer out if it slides freely and look for caked detergent. 2. Wipe away residue and push the drawer back in fully. 3. Do not force anything that resists. 4. Call us if F/13 returns. 5. Keep detergent poured only into the drawer compartments.
- Whether the linkage is physically damaged or only blocked by residue
- Whether the dispenser drive runs when commanded
- Whether the circuit that moves the dispenser is intact
Other Washer codes
Why does my dispenser make noise before F/13?
The washer is repeatedly trying to move the dispenser into position and failing. That constant shifting sound is the cue that something in the dispenser mechanism is stuck.
Can detergent buildup cause it?
Residue can block the drawer and add resistance. Cleaning is worth trying, but if the drawer is clean and the code remains, the linkage or drive needs inspection.
Do I need a new dispenser?
Not necessarily. Damaged linkage can often be repaired or replaced as a part. We inspect first and give a written price before any work. Bring the model number to the call so we bring the right linkage part.
Still seeing F/13?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
