What FL / LO / ds means

Kenmore front-load washers with model numbers that start with 402 report three door-lock conditions. FL means the door would not lock, LO means the door would not unlock, and ds means the door was open when the washer tried to lock it. In each case the control tries the lock seven times before it gives up and shows the code. You will see the cycle refuse to start or the door stay shut after the wash ends.

What is the difference between FL, LO and ds?

FL is a lock that failed to engage, LO is a lock that failed to release, and ds is a door found open when the lock was commanded. The three letters point us to different checks on the same door.

How do I get my clothes out of a locked door?
